Frank Lampard is currently in discussion with Crystal Palace as veteran boss Roy Hodgson has revealed he would to step down at the end of the season, The Sun.

The former Chelsea boss has been tipped as favourite to land the appointment at Selhurst Park as Hodgson will out of contract this summer.

The 73-year-old managed the Eagles for four years and kept them afloat in the Premier League all through his 167 games as boss.

The former England manager was quoted by Crystal Palace official website:

“After more than 45 years of coaching I have decided that the time is right for me to step away from the rigours of top-flight Premier League football, so our final two matches will be my last ones as manager of Crystal Palace."

On the other hand, Lampard has been seen as a successor due to his past records as a manger who invest largely on young talents.

The likes of Mason Mount, Reece James, Tammy Abraham, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Billy Gilmour and Fikayo Tomori were all products of the Chelsea legend.

Palace currently have 15 players that will out of contract in the summer and there is a huge task of rebuilding in the summer.

It is understood Lampard's first signing would be Slavia Prague youngster Abdallah Sima and the likes of Tyrick Mitchell, Ebere Eze and Nathan Ferguson are also available for the English boss to work with.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Frank Lampard is top on the list of managers who have been linked with Premier League club Crystal Palace, The Sun.

Present boss Roy Hodgson's contract is set to expire at the end of the season and the veteran English boss has managed to keep the Eagles in the English topflight division.

According to The Telegraph the London club are weighing their options on Lampard if Hodgson does not sign a new deal at Selhurst Park.
