A source close to the Red Devils' striker disclosed that:

“After eight years together, Marcus and Lucia have made the mutual decision to part ways.
“It is a result of the pressures and strains of the Covid pandemic and lockdowns, and the confinement that has brought with it over the last 12 months.
“There is a strong mutual love and respect for one another, having met at school, and there is a continued dialogue with the hope of a reconciliation in the future.”

The two love birds met in the halls of Ashton on Mersey School in Sale, Greater Manchester and Lucia was spotted during the 2018 Word Cup supporting her boyfriend as England reached the semi finals.

Lucia who moved out of their house is currently working for a PR company from home while Rashford is busy with the season and also working his child poverty program.

However Rashford's source revealed that there could be a light at the end of the tunnel when the season is over by the end of the month to straighten things out.

The source added:

“Marcus has had so much going on, with his football and campaigning and people wonder whether that contributed to the situation with Lucia.
“She has supported everything he has done on child poverty but it has added to his workload.
“Maybe, after a break, they will be able to work things out and get back together.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has been urged to return to Manchester United in a bid to rediscover his form after a disappointing season with Juventus.

Despite topping the top scorers' chart in Italy this season, the Old Lady are struggling to qualify for the Champions League under his watch.

And this means the five-time Ballon d'Or winner may be playing in the Europa League next season if things end with Juve in the fifth position on the log this term.
