2023: APC Governor Declares Presidential Ambition, Says He Will Not Disappoint

The Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, has disclosed that he intends to formally declare his intention to contest in the 2023 presidential election.

The governor told Channels TV on Friday, May 14, that all Nigerians, including the youths and women, are asking him to run for president.

He promised that his answer to their request will be affirmative.

Bello said:

“And I believe it is high time that we look into capacity, who can do the job, who is going to unify this country. And I think they are seeing something in me that they are asking me to come and unite and fix this country.

“My answer will be in the affirmative in a few time from now.’’

Bello assured those supporting him for the presidency that he would not disappoint them.

Meanwhile, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) says it will oppose the alleged plans to draft Akinwunmi Adesina, the president of the African Development Bank (AFDB), into the 2023 presidential race.

In a statement on Monday, May 10, Ishaq Akintola, director of MURIC, accused a former Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo, of backing Adesina to rule the country.

The group said the 2023 presidential ticket must be given to a Yoruba Muslim.

In another news, Olusegun Obasanjo says political leaders must ensure the year 2023 births the emergence of a new federation otherwise the country may be sliding into dissolution.

The former president condemned the calls for the country's disintegration, saying the minority group will suffer if Nigeria breaks up.
