Just In: Nigerian Army Arrests Top Notorious Bandits’ Leader

- One of the bandits' leaders terrorising a northern community has been arrested in Niger state

- The suspect identified as Jack Bros Yellow was reportedly apprehended during an ongoing military operation

- The arrest, however, is yet to be confirmed by the Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army has continued to record success in the fight against insecurity as they pounce on bandits in the northern region of the country.

A report by The Nation indicates that a bandits’ leader terrorising communities in Niger state, known as Jack Bros Yellow, has been arrested.

Jack was nabbed by the army during an ongoing military operation in one of the forests between Shiroro and Rafi local government of Niger state.

Though the Nigerian Army is being silent about the ongoing operations, it is, however, yet to confirm the arrest.

The news publication citing a source close to the communities disclosed that Jack is the leader of one of the three groups terrorising Shiroro, Rafi, and Munya local government areas.

The source added that the bandits’ leader may also have ties with some groups in Zamfara where he keeps victims who do not pay a ransom on time, Daily Post reports.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the spokesperson, 3rd Brigade Nigerian Army in Kano state, Captain Njoko Irabor on Sunday, May 9, confirmed that some terrorists were arrested.

However, he did not give the exact number of suspects. Irabor in a statement said the arrest was made possible when the troops stormed a mosque and some houses located in Filin Lazio, Hotoro Area of Kano metropolis on Saturday evening, May 8.

According to him, the houses allegedly belong to some Borno men who fled as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency.

In a related development, the police command in Zamfara on Friday, May 14, paraded some notorious bandits who have been unleashing terror and wreaking havoc in most parts of the north.

Shehu Mohammed, the police spokesman in the state, disclosed that the arrest was made possible through the collaboration of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Federal Intelligence Investigation Bureau, and Special Tactical Squad.
