A photo of the oldest mosque in Lagos, Shitta-Bey Mosque, was recently shared on social media by the official Twitter page of the state government.

Sharing the photo on Twitter, @followlasg noted that the mosque, which was built in 1892, is one of the oldest mosques in Nigeria.

In 2013, the mosque was designated as a national monument by the Nigerian Commission for Museums and Monuments.

The mosque, which was founded by Sierra Leonean-born Nigerian, Mohammed Shitta, is considered one of Nigeria's most important historical legacies.

Legit.ng previously reported that the design of an old church building stirred up reactions online after its photos were posted by a Facebook user and founder of a humanitarian NGO, Dr Kehinde Kadijat Kadiri.

Without mentioning the location of the building, the woman said that the structure is almost 100 years old and still looks beautiful.

The woman also revealed that the church is the most beautiful architectural design in the whole (unnamed) village.

Kehinde stated that the building sparked her curiosity to see how the inside would look like.

Many people who commented on the photos really wanted to know the location of the structure.
