Baba Ijesha: Police Responds to Protesters, Says Actor Will Remain in Custody Based on 'Legal Advice'
- The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, stated that Baba Ijesha's continuous stay in police custody is based on legal advice
- Recall the actor was arrested on charges of alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl
- Odumosu has added that Ijesha will not be released until the courts resumed so that he could be arraigned

It appears Nigerian actor, Yomi Fabiyi's immediate wishes may not be granted as Baba Ijesha is to remain in custody, according to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, in a recent report by The Punch.
According to Odumosu, Olanrewaju Omiyinka popularly known as Baba Ijesha will not be released from police custody until the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) calls off its nationwide strike.

The commissioner who stated this in reaction to Fabiyi's protest added that the decision to keep him in custody is based on legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions in the state Ministry of Justice.

Odumosu's statement reads as follows:
“When they got the SCIID today (Wednesday, May 12), they were advised by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the SCIID, and he told them that we have done our work and sought legal advice from the Ministry of Justice and the advice was that we should still keep him in our custody.
"When we concluded our investigation, we forwarded our report to the ministry for legal advice. The ministry advised us through the Office of the Public Defender. The legal advice was that there was a prima facie case established against him and some sections of the law were quoted in the advice. So, the advice was that he should still remain in our custody and to be charged for that.”

Meanwhile, it appears the war of words between popular Nigerian film stars, Iyabo Ojo and Yomi Fabiyi isn't going to end anytime soon as Fabiyi has now responded to Ojo's lawsuit against him.
Recall earlier, Legit.ng reported that hours after leading a protest against the continued detention of Baba Ijesha, Yomi Fabiyi was sued by Iyabo Ojo.
The actress through her lawyers, The Maverick Forte Legal, sued Fabiyi for defamatory statements made against her during the course of the protest.
Well, in a recent Instagram post, the actor stated that Ojo was the one who started the fight as she had first exposed him to cyberbullying. He went on to share a screenshot of Ojo apologising for it.
Fabiyi then went on to point out that the actress did not serve him the letter but instead, posted it on social media. Warning Ojo, he advised her not to let anyone push her as people don't know where they both come from.
