Buhari Convenes Security Meeting at Presidential Villa after Robbery Attempt at Chief of Staff's Residence

President Muhammadu Buhari is chairing a security meeting n the Presidential villa, a Twitter post by the presidency has disclosed.
In attendance at the meeting are the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, the Chief of Staff to the president, Ibrahim Gambari, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, and the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN).

Others present are the minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola, minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, minister of defence, Bashir Magashi, and the police affairs minister, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi.
The National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Moguno, the Service chiefs and the acting Inspector General Police, Usman Alkali Baba, are all in attendance.
Legit.ng notes that this is the third time President Buhari will be convening a security meeting in less than 30 days.
The meeting is expected to review the security situation in the country and come up with new strategies to guarantee the safety of lives and property in the country.
Recent weeks has seen a spike in violence, armed banditry, killings, kidnapping for ransom and other forms of crimes that appears to have defied all solutions thrown at it.
The meeting also comes on the heal of a robbery attempt at the residence of the Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, in the early hours of Monday, May 10.
According to presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, Professor Gambari's house is on a street next to the Presidential Villa.
Shehu added that the police, in a related development, is searching for a suspected burglar who unsuccessfully attempted to break into the house of Maikano Abdullahi on Thursday, May 6.
Legit.ng gathers that Maikano lives on the same street with the Chief of Staff, close to the Villa.

In another related development, President Buhari has approved the establishment of a National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons.
A statement from the presidency on Monday, May 3, noted that the centre would be domiciled in the Office of the National Security Adviser.
