In a thoroughly entertaining Premier League encounter, Stuart Dallas put Leeds ahead in the 13th minute by pouncing on a loose ball after Hugo Lloris made a great save to prevent an own goal from Sergio Reguilon.

Spurs, who played with a potent attack comprising Harry Kane, Gareth Bale, Dellee Alli and Heung Min Son, were level 12 minutes later thanks to their South Korean superstar who slotted home from a cheeky through ball from Delle Alli.

The equaliser was in many ways against the run of play as it was Leeds who looked more dangerous going forward.

Leeds deservedly restored their lead thanks to Patrick Bamford minutes before the break as the striker had a point to prove after a torrid outing against Brighton in his previous game.

The England international tapped in Ezgjan Alioski's cross and the result was put beyond doubt in the 84th minute when substitute Rodrygo scored to put the game beyond the visitors.

It was a frustrating afternoon for Ryan Mason’s side as Harry Kane had two goals ruled out for offside and at one point, saw his free-kick cannon off the post.

Leeds keeper Illan Meslier also did brilliantly to stop Serge Aurier’s deflected effort from finding the back of the net.

Leicester City’s defeat to Newcastle on Friday, May 7 provided the perfect opportunity for the North London side to close the gap but they found themselves constantly being attacked by a Leeds side yet to lose a game against the so-called ‘Big Six’ at Elland Road this season.

Not all hope is lost, however, and the Carabao Cup finalists will have to put the defeat behind them sooner than later and prepare for their next Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on May 16.
