Jose Mourinho has reportedly made signing Manchester United goalkeeper, David de Gea for Roma his priority this summer.

The 58-year-old was appointed as the new manager for The She-Wolf barely two weeks after Tottenham Hotspur fired him.

He will replace compatriot Paulo Fonseca at the end of this season with his contract due to run out at the end of the 2023-24 season.

Having managed the Spaniard during his reign at Old Trafford, the 'Special One' already made the 30-year-old one of his top targets this campaign.

However, Mourinho will have the Red Devils board to contend with over the signing of the goalkeeper whose current deal with the Premier League outfit will not expire until 2023.

Although the former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper is not sure of his number one status at the club with Dean Henderson already contending with him for the position according to SunSport quoting Todofichajes.

He has missed a number of games after flying to Spain to witness the birth of his child and since his return, he has struggled to regain his place.

De Gea has made 33 appearances for his club this season - keeping 12 clean sheets and conceding goals in the process.

The Spaniard has played 438 times for the club, winning their Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award a record four times. He has won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, and Europa League.

Legit.ng earlier reported Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has been conspicuously absent from his team’s last few games, begging concern from fans.

Prior to the Crystal Palace game, Solskjaer confirmed De Gea was missing from the squad due to ‘personal reasons’ but did not divulge further.

Days later, De Gea finally let his fans in on what was really going on and it is quite delightful as he recently welcomed his first baby with his long-time partner, Edurne Garcia.
