Nigerian music act Banky W has lamented that his father should be blamed for making the family supporters of Premier League club Arsenal.

His comments are coming in the wake of the Gunner’s Europa League exit after they failed to overturn a 2-1 first leg loss against Spanish side Villarreal.

Just one goal would have put Mikel Arteta’s team in the final of the competition but they failed to hit the back of the net having missed a lot of chances.

Fans of the club have taken to social media to express their frustrations calling for the sacking of their manager.

With the result, it means Arsenal who have been relatively poor in the Premier League this season will miss out of European competition next season.

It will be their first time in 25 years that they will not be participating in any competition on the European continent.

Arsenal last won the Premier League in the 2003-04 season. That means fans have been waiting over 15 years for league success and this has continued to cause the fans to lament.

And following their failure to join Manchester United in the final of the Europa League, Banky W who is a staunch supporter of the Arsenal wrote:

"I told Grandpa W that I blame him for making us Arsenal fans. I really shouldn't let Zaiah (Banky W’s son) inherit this Arsenal fan-ship. He has done nothing to deserve this."

Mikel Arteta's men kicked off the game like they meant serious business with their captain Pierre-Emerich Aubameyang hitting the post but it was just a flash in the pan.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United booked a place in this season's Europa League final after seeing off AS Roma in a two-legged semi-final fixture.

United were looking to make amends to their performance from last season when they were bundled out of the competition in the semis by Sevilla.

And they took a huge step towards progressing to the last round of the tournament following their 6-2 win over the Italian giants in the first leg.

Although they lost 3-2 in the reverse fixture, Manchester club went on to get the job done in Rome, with Edinson Cavani finding the back of the net twice as they proceeded 8-5 on aggregates.
