National Examinations Council Sets Date for the 2021 SSCE

- NECO has published its schedule for public examinations for the year 2021

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced that the 2021 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for Internal candidates will hold from Monday, July 5, to Monday, August 16.

The registrar/chief executive, of NECO, Professor Godswill Obioma made the announcement on Thursday, May 6, at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger state, Tribune reported.

The examination body stated that the scheduled exam date was fixed in accordance with the federal government’s approval.

According to Premium Times, NECO stated that the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for admission of JSS 1 students into Federal Unity Colleges is scheduled for May 29.

NECO releases 2020 SSCE results for external candidates

It said the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is scheduled for Aug. 23 to Monday, September 6 in order to enable students at that level to cover enough subject matter for the examination.

Meanwhile, NECO has released the results of external candidates who sat for its 2020 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

The Nation reported that NECO registrar, Prof Godswill Obioma, made the announcement at the council headquarters in Minna, Niger state on Thursday, May 6.

According to Obioma, 41,459 candidates registered out of which 39,503 actually sat for the examination.

In another news, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation (JAMB) has fixed Thursday, May 20, for the mock test for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The mock exam had earlier been scheduled to hold on Saturday, April, 30.

Channels TV reported that JAMB's spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, explained that the change of date is due to some ongoing adjustments in the examination body’s operational processes.

Benjamin noted that the development will not, however, affect other Mock Examination schedules and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) fixed for 5th to 19th June 2021.
