Hope Uzodinma to Imo Residents: No Shaking, Your Safety Is Guaranteed

- Governor Hope Uzodinma says he will do everything within his powers to protect Imolites from criminal elements

- The governor is also matching words with actions by providing equipment for security agencies to tackle criminals in the state

Governor Hope Uzodinma has assured residents of Imo that their safety is guaranteed despite the pocket of attacks witnessed in the state in recent times.

The governor made the declaration on Wednesday, May 5 when he presented vehicles and gadgets to security agencies in the state.

Governor Uzodinma also warned criminal elements to steer clear of Imo, saying his administration will not condone any act of criminality in the state anymore.

A statement sent to Legit.ng by the Imo state government quoted him as saying:

“From now onwards Imo state shall be a no-go area for criminals. We shall take the war to the doorway of all criminals; their kindred, their hamlets, and their hideout. We shall smoke them out and flush them out of Imo state.
“We can no longer tolerate a situation whereby our state is used as a breeding haven for criminals.
“To the good people of Imo state and residents, I say to you, you are safe; go about your lawful engagements without any fear of molestation. No shaking. Your safety is guaranteed.”

A day after the event on Thursday, May 6, the Imo state executive council commended Governor Uzodimma for his proactive approach in securing the lives and properties of residents.

Commissioner for information in the state, Chief Declan Emelumba disclosed this while speaking to reporters attached to Government House, Owerri.

Emelumba disclosed that the council commended the governor for rising up to the occasion very quickly and proactively to restore normalcy to the security situation in the state.

Meanwhile, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has warned the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) not to hoist its flags in his domain.

Governor Wike made his stance known when traditional rulers, political and opinion leaders of Ekpeye nationality paid him a solidarity visit at Government House, Port Harcourt on Tuesday, May 4.

Wike said his administration would not leave any stone unturned in protecting Rivers and its people against those who think they can annex the state by dragging her into their agenda.

In a related development, the Department of State Services (DSS) on Sunday, May 2 warned that those seeking to throw Nigeria into anarchy will be dealt with.

Peter Afunanya, the DSS spokesman, said the service will, henceforth, not tolerate those whose aim is to throw the country into anarchy.
