Insecurity: APC Caucus Replies PDP, Warns Minority Against Threatening Buhari

- The APC caucus in the National Assembly has replied members of the minority over the security challenges across Nigeria

- PDP lawmakers had said that President Buhari failed to address the nation despite the rising insecurity across regions of the country

- But APC in its reaction faulted the position of their colleagues saying that the president is not silent on the country's insecurity

The All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus of the National Assembly has said that President Muhammadu Buhari was on top of the security challenges plaguing the country, Nigerian Tribune reports.

This was in response to minority leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe who spoke on behalf of the caucus after expressing concern over the failure of President Buhari to address the country.

Abaribe had accused the APC-led administration of indifference to the insecurity across the country.

Senate Leader, Yahaya Abubakar Abdullahi, in a statement on Wednesday, May 5, faulted the position of his colleagues in the opposition saying that the president was on top of the security challenges.

Channels TV also reports that Abdullahi maintained that the Nigerian leader had always made statements to Nigerians on all major security incidents.

According to the Senate leader, Buhari is fully in charge of the country, adding that he has had rigorous consultations with service chiefs and security agencies to mitigate the security crisis.

While berating the opposition for coming too hard on Buhari, Abdullahi noted that the opposition is over-heating an already charged polity.

He also added that the president and service chiefs are busy deliberating with a view to addressing the security challenges across the country.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that a member of the House of Representatives, Dachung Bagos, who represents Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency disclosed that there is a tendency for the National Assembly to begin impeachment moves against President Buhari.

Bagos noted that the Assembly might be forced to kick-start the process if the president fails to implement security resolutions made by the lower chamber.

In the lawmaker's opinion, Nigeria's security situation would not have gotten this bad if the executive arm of the federal government had earlier acted on at least 30% of the advice of the legislature.
