Sad Day In Football As Former Premier League Star Dies At 65

Steve Conroy, former Sheffield United shot-stopper has passed on after losing a long battle to illness at the age of 65, Sheffield United Website and Super Sport report.

The goalkeeper was a regular at Barmall Lane before he broke his arm in a game against St, Mirren in December 1979.

Conroy made 137 starts for the Blades and was a fan favourite as well as being regarded by the club's backroom staff.

He began his career at North East Derbyshire, Chesterfield and England boys before joining the staff at Sheffield in July 1972.

Conroy was fun to be with at the club and officials were always delighted to see him when his work in the licensing trade allowed him to get back for a game.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that It's nine years since one of Nigeria's most prolific strikers Rashidi Yekini passed on and his former teammate Patrick Pascal has expressed that the forward made a huge impact in the game.

The 1993 African Footballer of the Year played seven tournaments for Nigeria and scored 37 goals in all competitions.

Legit.ng also reported that Sikiratu who is the mother of late former Super Eagles striker Rashidi Yekini has stated clearly that she is still feeling the pains the death of her son brought to her nine years after his demise.

Nine years ago, the whole Nigerian football fraternities were thrown into deep mourning following the shocking death of Rashidi Yekini who died in Ibadan, Oyo state.

There were serious controversies surrounding the death of the former Nigerian striker considering how he was taken to an unknown place by some of his family members.
