Ikeokwu stated:

“I am not aware of the importation of arms by IPOB. As it stands now I have not been briefed on such development.”

Earlier, the Department of State Services (DSS) had accused the Indigenous People of Biafra’s Eastern Security Network (ESN) of acquiring bombs and explosives.

The secret police said the ESN is planning to use the explosives to destabilise Imo state.

The DSS said it received intelligence that the explosives were being moved in articulated trucks from Lagos to a hideout in Orlu, Imo state.

The information is reportedly contained in a letter by the DSS to the Brigade Commander, 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Owerri, Imo state.

The DSS, therefore, advised the Brigade commander to ensure that deployed security personnel carried out a thorough search on trucks coming to the state.

Six other fighters of the militia group linked to the IPOB were also killed, while two other members were arrested in the joint operation. Security agents said the late IPOB commander coordinated all the operations of the group in the southeast.

He was said to have spearheaded the attack on the Imo police headquarters on April 5 and several other attacks on security and military personnel and facilities.
