PSG took an early lead in the first half of the Wednesday night, April 28, clash through Marquinhos, only for City to spring a comeback in the second half to down the French giants.

The visitors pulled themselves level with Kevin de Bruyne's cross which beat Keylor Navas who was in goal before Riyad Mahrez exploited a gap in PSG's wall to guide his free-kick into the back of the net.

Efforts by the home side to restore parity proved futile on a night Kylian Mbappe and Neymar were silenced by City's resolute defence.

With the match finishing 2-1 in favour of City, PSG now face a mountainous task to overturn the scoreline during the second leg to be played at Etihad Stadium next week for a chance to reach the finals.

However, Neymar has exuded confidence his side still have a chance to progress, insisting all is not lost.

His sentiments were reiterated by PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino who will be making a return to a familiar turf during the second leg. He wrote on Instagram:

"We lost the battle but the war continues. I believe in my team, I believe that we can be better than we were."

The Argentine tactician further took issue with his wards' laxity in the second half but was quick to note there exists an opportunity to make amends.

Poch said as quoted by Metro UK.

"We have a good team, like Manchester City, but we are confident.
"We know what we can do, our first half proves it. We dominated this match at that time but we have to keep the same intensity."

Legit.ng earlier reported that Olivier Giroud was spotted asking former teammate and Real Madrid's number one Thibaut Courtois on how he saved Timo Werner's shot from close range.

The German striker missed from four yards after just having only the Belgian to beat who saved the ball with his legs.

Werner has come under huge criticism for failing to score many goals and particularly at point blank range.
