Following his exploits for Spanish La Liga side Villarreal in the month of April, winger Samuel Chukwueze has been nominated for LaLiga Player of the Month, Complete Sports reports.

The Nigeria international scored thrice in five league appearances for Villarreal in the month.

He found the back of the net twice in their 5-1 away win at Levante and was also on the score sheet in Villarreal’s 2-1 defeat to Barcelona last weekend.

Before the fixture away at Levante, the Nigerian international had only managed to score one goal in the current league season out of 24 matches.

However, the game against the Madrid based club proved to be different as the 21-year-old was the man-of-the-match in the week 31 fixture.

So far this season, Chukwueze has scored four goals in 27 league appearances for the Yellow Submarine this term.

Barcelona captain Lionel Messi, Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and Real Betis goalie Claudio Bravo are also in the running for the individual prize.

Atletico Madrid star Angel Correa, Fernando Pacheco of Deportivo Alaves and Sevilla midfielder Fernando Francisco Reges are the other players nominated for the award.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored his side’s second goal as Napoli defeated 10-man Torino 2-0 to boost their Champions League qualification chances.

Tiemoue Bakayoko has put the visitors in front before Osimhen complemented the strike in the first half helping Gennaro Gattuso’s men pick up an away win against the Maroons.

The encounter at the at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino saw both teams chase contrasting ambitions.

With Napoli hoping to qualify for the Champions League, Torino are desperate to save themselves from being relegated to the lower division.

Legit.ng earlier reported that former Nigerian international Daniel Amokachi has stated that Paul Onuachu’s goal vs Lesotho reminded him of his late teammate Rashidi Yekini.
