Insecurity: FG Set To Partner With China To Secure Nigeria From Bandits, Terrorists, Others

The federal government of Nigeria has reached out to China over the insecurity situation in the country.

According to the minister of police Affairs, Mohammad Maigari Dingyadi, Nigeria is ready to partner with China to enhance the security of the country.

He stated this during a courtesy visit by the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Cui Jianchun to the Ministry Headquarters in Abuja.

In a statement made available to Legit.ng, the minister said as a result of Nigeria's security situation, there is a need to work with the Asian country.

The minister said with the support of international communities, Nigeria should be able to solve these problems.

Meanwhile, the minister lamented the poverty and unemployment situation facing the country. He said the FG is doing everything to solve them.

According to him, the government has initiated several initiatives for the youths to create opportunities for youths.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported Senator Clifford Ordia of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) called on the federal government to overhaul Nigeria's security architecture, warning that no one was safe anymore in the country.

Ordia said this after an armed gang attacked his convoy while he was returning from Edo to Abuja on Monday, April 26, Daily Trust reports.

The federal lawmaker representing Edo state central told journalists on Wednesday, April 28, that the gunmen opened fire on his convoy along the Okene-Lokoja road in Kogi, injuring three of his security aides.

In another report, unknown gunmen have killed nine persons and about 23 cows in Anambra state. According to the report, the incident took place at an area known as Modiyam Umaru camp in Awkuzu, Oyi local government area of the state.

The area is also said to be a stone throw to many hostels housing students of the state-owned Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.

The incident was confirmed by the spokesman of the Anambra state police command, Mr. Ikenga Tochukwu.
