Senator Remi Tinubu on Tuesday, April 27 tackled her All Progressives Congress (APC) colleague, Senator Smart Adeyemi over his comments concerning the mounting insecurity problems in Nigeria.

Remi is the wife of APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and she represents Lagos Central senatorial district in the Nigerian Senate.

Adeyemi, on the other hand, is a former national president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and the senator representing the Kogi West senatorial district in the Senate.

Contributing to a motion on insecurity during the plenary, Adeyemi said:

“This is the worst instability we are facing. In fact this is worse than the civil war.”

But Tinubu interrupted him, asking:

“Are you in PDP (Peoples Democratic Party)? Are you a wolf in sheep’s clothing?”

Adeyemi, however, ignored her comments and continued:

“I’m a party man and I’m supporting APC but it has gotten to a point that as supporters we cannot keep quiet.”

The Lagos senator is now the number one trending topic on Twitter in the early hours of Wednesday, April 28 as Nigerians berated her for her comments.

Gbodi Urungbodi wrote:

“Smart Adeyemi was raising an issue of national concern and the only thing Remi Tinubu could come up with is "Are you in PDP?" That means political affiliation is of utmost importance to her than the insecurity that is currently ravaging the country.”

“I am not overly surprised with Remi Tinubu's comment at the National Assembly. That is how most APC apologists think. The moment one mentions insecurity, they find ways to chip in how there was insecurity pre- 2015. It's all about power for them. God forbid!”

Seth Kazah wrote:

“Remi Tinubu can keep cherishing her wild fantasies for all she can, but at its very best, that will be the closest she could ever get, to being first lady - in her lucid dreams.”

Legit.ng had earlier reported that Senator Adeyemi broke down in tears while making his contributions to the motion.

Betraying emotion while making his comments, the senator's voice became shaky as he shouted to the rooftops while making his point in the red chambers.

Recall that Nigerian senators on the same day, expressed fear that Boko Haram insurgents may overrun the nation’s capital, Abuja.
