Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana was extremely grateful on Monday, April 26 after he was allowed an early shower from a football match so he could break a fast.

Fofana is a staunch Muslim and was allowed a short break in the 35th minute to break his fast during the clash against Crystal Palace.

The defender had gone hours without any food or drink and the crucial Premier League clash was scheduled to take place just before Iftar.

Leicester won the game 2-1 and Fofana took to Twitter to thank the Premier League and Crystal Palace player for being considerate to his beliefs. He tweeted:

“Just wanted to thank the Premier League as well as Crystal Palace, Vicente Guaita all [sic] the Foxes for allowing me to break my fast tonight in the middle of the game. That's what makes football wonderful."

A video has since been shared online showing the referee briefly stopping the game to allow players like Fofana to break their fast as the holy month of Ramadan started in April and is set to go on until May 12.

There was a similar occurrence in Leicester’s last game against West Brom on Thursday, April 22 when Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers had to substitute Fofana to allow the Frenchman time to break his fast.

In Monday’s win, however, Fofana showed great character as he played the full 90 minutes. The game itself was quite entertaining as Leicester City had to come from behind to secure a crucial win which solidifies 3rd place in the Premier League table.

Palace took the lead in the 12th minute thanks to Wilfried Zaha, who finished off a sleek counter-attack from his team.

Timothy Castagne then equalized in the second half before in-form Nigerian Kelechi Ihenacho scored the winner with a thunderbolt 10 minutes from time.

Victory means Leicester need only three wins from their final five games to secure Champions League football.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Nigerian star Kelechi Iheanacho has been in impressive form for Leicester City after scoring 17 goals and six assists in all competitions so far.

The attacker was also responsible for the Foxes progressing to the final of the longest cup competition in England as his goal lifted them above Southampton in the last-4 stage.

His performances in recent times have been electrifying as he inspired his side to a dramatic comeback against Crystal Palace earlier this week.
