Spanish side Real Madrid have been handed a major injury boost after manager Zinedine Zidane confirmed that Toni Kroos is now fit for their Champions League showdown against Chelsea.

Los Blancos will host the Blues in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final and Zidane is delighted to have Kroos back in the squad.

The German international was in training on Sunday, April 25, as he has not featured for the club in the last three games as precautionary measures.

Zidane says Kroos will be available for selection for the encounter but that Ferland Mendy, who has been out of action with a calf problem, has not recovered in time for the game.

Zidane said via Mirror:

"Toni is with us and he will be with us tomorrow. Ferland is not going to be with us, he still has a bit [of an injury] and that's it."

On the other hand, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel says his side will only miss the services of Matro Kovacic in the encounter.

Kovacic has reportedly suffered injury and would miss the encounter. The 26-year-old has been a major player for the Blues since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel, but may miss their next two crucial fixtures.

He already missed their last three consecutive fixtures after injuring his hamstring in the lead-up to the Champions League quarter-final with Porto.

Kovacic has started 27 of their Premier League and Champions League matches this season and he would have been in the squad for the trip to Madrid.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that with Juventus in the brink of missing out on next season’s Champions League, there is a new development on future of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Italian outletLa Gazzetta dello Sport via Soccer Laduma are claiming that the former Manchester United striker has set his sights on Old Trafford return.

It was gathered that Ronaldo has already contacted his agent Jorge Mendes to go into negotiations with the Premier League giants if they would be interested in accepting him back when the transfer window opens.
