Nigerian forward Samuel Chukwueze scored an astonishing solo goal for Villarreal in their 2-1 defeat to Barcelona at the Estadio de la Ceramica this weekend.

The 21-year-old star opened the scoring for the hosts four minutes before the half-hour mark after dribbling the Catalans keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen and then sent the ball into the net.

Pau Torres delivered a well-timed pass to the Super Eagles winger who already read his colleague's intent and then attacked an empty space before getting the ball.

Chukwueze then dribbled one of the visitors' defenders with his ball control before dashing towards the goal area and scoring from close range.

However, the Yellow Submarine surrendered their early lead after allowing Antoine Griezmann to find the back of the net twice before the first half wrapped up.

The Frenchman equalised for his side in the 28th minute with a stunning effort after receiving a superb long pass from Oscar Mingueza.

Ten minutes before half-time, the World Cup winner benefited from a poor pass from Juan Foyth to the goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo and powered the away team ahead for the first time in the game.

The former Atletico Madrid man had also completed his brace in the game while Barca ran off with maximum points as they close in on the current league leaders.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United failed to reduce the gap between them and rivals Man City after settling for a goalless draw with Leeds at Elland Road on Sunday, April 25.

The Red Devils were looking to build on their 3-0 hard-fought win over Burnley in their last Premier League outing to increase their slim hopes of winning the league.

However, Leeds proved too strong to break, with the side's resolute defence frustrating the Red Devils' attack-line.
