Spotify founder Daniel Ek has expressed interest in buying Arsenal Football Club if owner Stan Kroenke decides to sell.

Ahead of Friday’s match against Everton, thousands of Arsenal fans gathered outside the Emirates Stadium in protest of how the club was being run.

Fans were angry with the club, largely due to their initial willingness to participate in the European Super League alongside five other Premier League clubs.

A day earlier, Kroenke’s son Josh participated in a fans’ forum as he tried to explain the club’s initial decision to participate in the league.

According to Forbes, during the clash against Everton, Daniel EK, who has an estimated net worth of £3.38bn (€4.7bn), took to Twitter to hint at possibly buying the club. He tweeted:

"As a kid growing up, I've cheered for Arsenal for as long as I can remember. If KSE would like to sell Arsenal I'd be happy to throw my hat in the ring."

Gunners supporters have been unhappy with the club’s hierarchy for the longest time as the team have not qualified for the Champions League for the last three seasons.

Under Arteta, not much has changed and the North London club looks destined for a mid-table finish in the 2020/2021 campaign.

Arteta spoke on the fans’ protests before the Everton game where he said both he and the club understood their frustration. Arteta said:

“Well we hear it, we know what they [the fans] think but our responsibility should be on trying the best possible way to play the match, and that's it."

Arsenal succumbed to yet another defeat on the pitch as Everton got the better of them thanks to a Bernd Leno error which saw Richarlison’s effort slip past his legs.

As it stands, Arsenal’s most plausible route to Champions League football will be through winning the Europa League.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Aliko Dangote has never hidden his ambitions in buying Premier League giants Arsenal and is looking like it is going to come through.

The Gunners were among the six English clubs that joined the European Super League but all have withdrawn their interests and fans are now asking questions about owner Stan Kroenke's credibility.

The north London faithful have been asking questions about how the team have fared in recent years and the mode of spending on the first team.
