Premier League giants Liverpool have reportedly agreed a five-year deal with RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate who has been heavily linked with Manchester United.

UK outlet Mirror are claiming that the Reds are almost through with a £31million swoop for the defender.

Liverpool have been on the trail of the 21-year-old for some time now as they make efforts in avoiding problems they faced this season when it comes to injuries.

Injury crisis left rocked Jurgen Klopp’s side this campaign with no fit senior centre-halves.

It is believed that discussions with Konate’s representatives have reached advanced stage and now it appears the player will be joining this summer.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also keen on the France under-21 defender as he seeks a long-term centre-back partner for skipper Harry Maguire, according to Eurosport.

But United look set for disappointment, according to the latest reports.

On the other hand, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reacted to his side’s exit from the UEFA Champions League after they lost to Spanish giants Real Madrid 3-1 on aggregates.

Neither side was able to find the back of the net after full-time, with Real storming to the semis at the expense of Jürgen Klopp's men.

Despite having a couple of chances in the second leg, Klopp’s men failed to find the back of the net against Los Blancos and now they return to the Premier League to battle for top four position.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that former Liverpool forward Djibril Cisse has joined American fourth-tier side Panathinaikos Chicago at the age of 39.

Since he left Swiss division three club Yverdon Sports, the Frenchman has been out of club. However, the American outfit said that the player has joined them. The club made the announcement via their twitter handle when they captioned a picture of Cisse "Once Green, Always Green."

The striker had featured for the club between 2009 and 2011 after he left French Ligue 1 side Marseille, scoring a staggering 47 goals in just 61 games during his time with the Greeks.
