The minister of state for education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has revealed that despite the rising insecurity in Nigeria, all his children are in public school.

Nwajiuba's pronouncement was disclosed in a tweet by Lauretta Onochie, a presidential media aide, on Tuesday, April 20.

In his submission, the minister noted that President Muhammadu Buhari and the Ministry of Education are deeply concerned over the rise in the kidnap of school children.

He, therefore, warned that safety measures must be strictly adhered to in all schools both public and private.

"None of us want the abduction of our children from schools. Mr. President, Alh. Adamu Adamu, myself, all of us are very concerned.

"There is a need for safety measures to be strictly adhered to in schools in view of the social-political situation of the present society."

Meanwhile, suspected gunmen had abducted some students during an attack on a private university in Kaduna state on the night of Tuesday, April 20.

The academic institution, Green Field University, is located along the Kaduna–Abuka highway in Chikun local government area of the state.

Legit.ng gathered that the institution is the first private university in the state and was established three years ago.

The incident has been regarded as the first major attack that bandits would be launching on communities around the Kaduna-Abuja highway since 300 female soldiers were deployed to the general area in January.
