Sad News as Gunmen Kill Amotekun Operative in Oyo State

- The life of Suleiman Quadri, an Amotekun operative, has been cut short

- The operative was killed during an ambush by gunmen numbering about 11

- One of his colleague who survived the attack is receiving treatment

In what will be a big blow to the Oyo state security network, one of their operatives has been killed by gunmen.

The deceased, Suleiman Quadri, was killed when his team was ambushed while escorting the staff of a farm to the farmland in Fiditi on Tuesday, April 20, The Nation reports.

They were reportedly ambushed by the gunmen who opened fire on them.

While he was not lucky, his colleague, Amoo Yisau, survived with gunshot injuries. Yisau is receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Owode, Oyo.

The commandant of Amotekun Corps, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd), confirmed the incident.

Quadri, 25, has since been buried according to Islamic rites.

In another report, Amotekun operatives in Ondo state have blamed illegal miners for the killing of a farmer and a vigilante operative at the Jugbere Farm Settlement in Owo area of the state.

The security network stated that herdsmen were not responsible for the killings.

The director-general of the Amotekun corps, Adetunji Adeleye, said four suspects connected to the attack have been arrested.

Meanwhile, amid the rise in the level of insecurity in Nigeria, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo has said that every state must be allowed to secure its space.

Legit.ng reported that Akeredolu made this known on Wednesday, February 24, during his second-term inauguration at the International Centre for Culture and Events in Akure.
