Governor Nyesom Wike on Tuesday, April 20, expressed his displeasure over the state of things in Nigeria under the leadership of the APC-led federal government.

The Rivers governor, in an interview conducted by AIT at Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, clearly stated that he does want the ruling party to succeed because it has failed the electorate which voted it into power.

In fact, Wike said if the APC-led government succeeds, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not be able to take over the government.

His words:

"I'm not here to help the APC, that is not my duty. My duty is to make sure APC fails. I'm not here to help them because if I help them I can't take over the government.
"The business of my party is to make sure they leave because they have not done well. I am not going to aid them to win."

Wike, therefore, called on the PDP to use more effective means to attack bad policies of the current administration instead of social media platforms which, in his opinion, are not popular with the older generation.

Meanwhile, the special adviser on media to the Kano state governor, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, had earlier declared that the APC-led government had failed Nigerians in terms of securing the lives and properties of the citizens.

Yakassai, an APC chieftain, but an avid critic of the Buhari administration, took the government to the cleaners after new reports of students kidnapped by bandits in Zamfara state.

He said:

“Clearly, we as APC government, at all levels, have failed Nigerians in the number one duty we were elected to do which is to secure lives &andproperties. Not a single day goes by without some sort of insecurity in this land. This is a shame! Deal with terrorists decisively or resign.’’
