Controversial Prolific Dutch Goalscorer who Refused to Play for the National Team is Dead

Willie van der Kuijlen has passed away at the age of 74 after enduring Alzheimer's disease for a number of years.

The Dutch football legend and all-time top Eredivisie scorer netted a remarkable 311 goals in 545 games between before retiring in the 1981-82 season.

Van der Kuijlen played for Dutch giants PSV for 18 seasons and won many trophies during his spell at the club.

Van der Kuijlen refused to be part of the Netherlands squad that that played in the 1974 World Cup finals that lost to West Germany in the finals.

PSV released a statement after his statement:

"PSV are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of #MisterPSV, Willy van der Kuijlen. The club legend died peacefully, aged 74.
"Rest in peace, Willy."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Hansi Flick will leave his position as Bayern Munich boss after spending just 18 months at the club.

The 56-year-old won six trophies during his short spell with the Bavarians including last season's Budnesliga, German Cup and the Champions League titles.
