Several Nigerians have called for Pantami's resignation over his alleged ties to terrorist sects.

He said:

“It is a baseless call and it should be ignored. Afterall, the US itself has denied it."

According to MURIC's director, the campaign of slander is being pushed by forces against the federal government’s NIN policy, Boko Haram terrorists, bandits, criminals in general and political IDPs (Internally Displaced Politicians).

He went on to note that no one who has the love of Nigeria at heart will support such a malicious and frivolous allegation.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the minister of communication backtracked on some of the extreme views he held about terrorist groups including Taliban and Al-Qaeda.

Pantami during a Ramadan lecture at the Annor Mosque in Abuja on Saturday, April 17, said he made the controversial comments when he was young and inexperienced.
