Former Man City star Yaya Toure has revealed he wrote a letter of apology to former boss Pep Guardiola after accusing the Spaniard of not liking black players.

Recall that in interview in 2018, Toure said: "He [Guardiola] insists he has no problems with black players because he is too intelligent to be caught out. But when you realise that he has problems with Africans, wherever he goes, I ask myself questions.

"He will never admit it. But the day he will line up a team in which we find five Africans, not naturalised, I promise I will send him a cake."
However, Guardiola later responded in an interview with TV3, saying: "It's a lie and he knows it. We were together for two years and now this is when he says it. He never told me face to face."

Two years after that drama, Toure has now revealed that he sent a letter to Manchester City to apologized to Guardiola and some of the club's staff who felt insulted by his earlier statement.

The Ivory Coast legend told the Daily Mail: "That interview was my big, huge mistake. When you give your trust, your voice to someone, they can twist it.
"I was aware some staff were not happy. I emailed a letter to try to communicate with some important people there to apologise and say I've been indecent to the club but I haven't had any feedback.

"I want peace. We don't want this [acrimony] all the time. For the love of the fans, for the love of the club, sometimes things have to be settled the right way. I've been in touch with some people there."

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Yaya Toure's dreams of becoming a top manager have taken a giant step forward as he joined the coaching staff of Ukrainian club FC Olimpik Donetsk.

The former Man City star already has his coaching qualifications in sight while spending time with English championship clubs QPR and Blackburn.

The 37-year-old has now got his first appointment the defunct Ukrainian club Metalurh Donetsk when he played in between 2003 and 2005.

The four-time African Footballer of the Year will join the staff of head coach Igor Klimovsky and said he wanted to both learn and pass on his own experiences.

The 2015 AFCON winner who won two La Liga and Premier League titles with Barcelona and Man City ended his career with Chinese Super League side Qingdao Huanghai.
