Anambra guber: APC Fixes Date for Primary, Huge Fees for Expression of Interest, Nomination Forms

- APC has revealed its timetable for its Anambra gubernatorial election

- The ruling party said the primary is in keeping with INEC's requirement

- The APC also noted that appeals will come one week after the conduct of the election

All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants who are eyeing the Anambra governorship seat in November, Saturday 6, election will be having their primary on Saturday, June 26.

This was announced by the ruling party on its official and verified Twitter page on Thursday, April 15.

The party also disclosed that the appeals after the primary will be done only on Wednesday, June 30.

It explained that the primary is in accordance with the 2010 electoral act and the guideline of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The APC said:

"In accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) and @inecnigeria guidelines, the APC hereby releases this timetable and schedule of activities for the conduct of the 2021 Governorship Primary Election in Anambra state."

The APC also fixed the fees for expression of interest and nomination forms at N2.5 million and N20 million respectively.

Meanwhile, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state had expressed confidence in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cruising to a massive victory in the coming Anambra guber election.

Addressing PDP leaders in the southeast on Monday, February 8, in Enugu, to reconcile Anambra stakeholders, Governor Wike said winning the governorship election was crucial to the PDP household.

Wike said all stakeholders must unite and work together in order to avoid a scene which played out in the Ondo election in which the APC won.

Legit.ng noted that the election has been scheduled by INEC to hold on November 18. He also warned against putting a group interest above party, adding that without sacrifice, PDP may lose out which was likely to affect the party's chance of retaking power in 2023.

Wike also called for transparency in the pre-election process and urged the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP to allow governors to take a solid charge in order to avoid the crisis.
