Drama as Kano LG Chairman Appoints 55 Aides, Gives Reasons

- Hassan Farawa, the chairman of Kumbotso local government area of Kano state, has announced the appointment of 55 aides

The chairman of the council of Kumbotso local government area of Kano state, Hassan Kauye Farawa, on Wednesday, April 7, broke a political record as he appointed 55 special advisers and assistants.

Daily Trust reports that while swearing them into office, Farawa said their appointment is in line with the mission of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to eradicate poverty.

Legit.ng gathered that he urged the new appointees to discharges their duties diligently and with a dedication to move the local government forward.

He said:

“The appointment of the 55 aides is as a result of the efforts of Kano state Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to eradicate poverty among youth and to boost the Kano state economy more especially during these hard times."

The chairman called on the appointees to be good ambassadors and avoid anything that would tarnish the image of the local government and Kano state.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that there was a mild drama in Kano when a councillor in the state, Muslihu Yusuf Ali, did the unusual by appointing 18 persons who would work with him in carrying out his responsibilities.

It was reported that the councillor, representing Guringawa Ward of Kumbotso local government area, inaugurated the 18 aides at the local government secretariat on Thursday, March 11, with the help of the vice-chairman of the council, Shamsu Abdullahi.

Speaking after the inauguration, Ali said it had always been his dream to bring changes if he had the opportunity, to carry everyone along and work for the development of his people.

He added that the nature of the responsibilities they had as leaders that were close to the masses called for the appointments, hoping that it would bring positive change in his ward from which others across the country would emulate.

The councilor said he had donated his first salary to empower 100 people living with disabilities in his ward.
