Kaduna Abduction: El-Rufai Gives Fresh Details on Kidnapped Students, Reveals Next Step

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna has said that the state government would soon secure the freedom of the abducted students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka in the Igabi local government area of the state.

Channels TV reports that El-Rufai stated this on Wednesday, April 7, while receiving five of the 39 students abducted by bandits who invaded the school on March 11.

Legit.ng gathered that the students were reunited with their parents after the troops rescued them on Monday, April 5.

The report said that after their release, they were taken to a military hospital for treatment and were freed to go home with their parents.

El-Rufai, who was represented by the commissioner for internal security and home affairs, Samuel Aruwan, assured that the remaining students and others still in captivity would be rescued in no distant time.

The governor had on Sunday, April 4, featured on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he warned that anyone caught negotiating with bandits on behalf of the state government would be prosecuted.

He also noted that the government has not appointed an intermediary to negotiate with bandits on its behalf.

However, the parents, in their reaction, vowed to do everything possible to get their children out of captivity, including negotiating with the bandits no matter the consequences.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that bandits killed eight persons in separate incidents in Kajuru and Kachia local government areas of Kaduna state.

It was reported that the Kaduna state commissioner for internal security and homeland affairs, Samuel Aruwan.

The bandits barricaded the Kaduna-Kachia road around Kadanye village in Kajuru local government area and opened fire on a bus and a truck carrying firewood, killing five people.

He said in another attack in Kachia local government, bandits invaded a herders settlement in Inlowo village, and killed one Ibrahim Haruna, before carting away 180 cows.
