2023: Three APC Governors Storm Zamfara amid Matawalle's Alleged Defection Plan

Following the speculation that the governor of Zamfara state, Bello Matawalle, is set to abandon the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), three governors of the ruling party have stormed the state.
PM News reports that the governors visited the state on Monday, April 5, for the commissioning of some buildings.
Legit.ng gathered that the governors included, Mai-Mala Buni of Yobe; Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa and Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi, adding that each inaugurated houses named after their states.

Matawalle was said to have built 18 detached houses to serve as accommodation for state governors and other officials. Each of the houses was named after the 18 northern states.
While commissioning the Yobe House, Governor Mai-Mala Buni commended Matawalle for modernising the state.
He described Matawalle as a bridge-builder, peacemaker and dynamic leader who built resilient infrastructure and provided security to the state within a short time.
Channels TV also reports that the governors commiserated with the government and people of Zamfara over the recent fire disaster which destroyed part of Tudun Wada Gusau market.
Explaining why the houses were constructed, Matawalle said it was to provide secure accommodation of international standard to government officials and eminent personalities on official engagements in the state.
He added that the new houses would help in reducing the expenses being incurred by the government in accommodating such visitors in hotels and rented houses.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Sanusi Maradun, a former commissioner for social welfare in Zamfara state, dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
It was reported that Maradun announced his defection in Gusau, the state capital, on Saturday, April 3.
The former commissioner said he decided to join the APC because of its efforts towards developing the state.
