Remarkable performance by Belgian international Romelu Lukaku has seen the former Manchester United striker surpass the goals record of legendary Brazilian star Ronaldo at Italian club Inter Milan, SunSport reports.

The 27-year-old who left Old Trafford for Inter in 2019 for £73million has been in blistering form scoring goals with ease in the Serie A.

After 86 matches with the San Siro outfit, Lukaku has so far scored 60 goals which is thirteen matches less than what Brazilian phenomenon Ronaldo achieved during his time.

Lukaku netted 34 goals in 51 matches last season, and following his strike against Bologna on Saturday, April 3, he has now registered 26 goals in 35 matches this campaign.

Statistics now show that the Belgian hitman is more prolific in front of the goal.

Ronaldo – nicknamed the Phenomenon – moved to Inter in 1997 after one staggering season with Barcelona where he scored 47 goals.

He managed 59 goals for the Serie A giants – but did so in 99 matches across five injury-hit years.

Lukaku also has more assists than Ronaldo for Inter, with 13 to 12.

And his impact looks set to propel both him and Inter to a first league title since 2010.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo might have traded winning the Italian League title for the golden boot this campaign.

The 36-year-old currently has 23 league goals - four better than Inter Milan attacker Romelu Lukaku while Zlatan Ibrahimovic's tally stands at 15 so far.

The Old Lady are 10 points inferior to the Nerazzurri who are at the summit of the table with about 11 matches to the end of this campaign.

Cassano believes Juve should sell Ronaldo, claiming the five-time Ballon d'Or winner is only interested in his own personal glory and is a hindrance to Juve playing the way Andrea Pirlo wants to play.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has denied racially abusing former Manchester United teammate Romelu Lukaku during their Coppa Italia quarter-final meeting at the San Siro earlier this week.

Both strikers clashed during the game which ended 2-1 in favour of Antonio Conte's men with Christian Eriksen striking the winner through a stoppage-time free-kick.

The 39-year-old Swede broke the deadlock for his side in the 31st minute but a spot-kick from Lukaku restored parity in the 71st minute. And then the former Spurs star scored the winner.
