There is a major defect in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) - it still remains a mixture of political parties. This was disclosed by Kano state governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje.

According to him, despite the years in power, the party has not moved to the next level of graduating from a “mixture” to a “compound.”

Punch reports that he disclosed this at a town hall meeting organised by the APC Constitutional Review Committee for the northwest held in Kano on Monday, April 5.

Ganduje said:

"The APC as a party started as a mixture of the ACN, ANPP, APGA, PDP, CPC. That is a mixture of various elements trying to make a compound.

“But unfortunately, up till now, the APC is still a ‘mixture’ and has not graduated to the next level to become a ‘compound. Those who read Chemistry know the difference between a ‘mixture’ and a ‘compound'."

He, however, praised the party for not disintegrating despite the culture of such permeating the country's political landscape, Vanguard added.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that unknown gunmen opened fire on Olorogun Ovoke Oshasha, a chieftain of APC at Ughelli Town, in Delta state.

The politician was reportedly driving when the attackers who drove in a Highlander SUV opened fire on him on Saturday, April 3.

A source disclosed that Oshasha sustained gunshot injuries on his chest, and was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

In another development, state chairmen of the APC on Thursday, April 1, demanded immediate conduct of the party’s congresses to pave the way for the national convention to usher in a new National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

The party chairmen, under the auspices of the Forum of State Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress, told journalists in Abuja that it was time for the party to hold the national convention, billed for June, after the conclusion of the membership revalidation and registration.

The chairman of the forum and APC chairman in Borno state, Hon. Ali Dalori, said at a press conference attended by a Legit.ng reporter that the membership drive had increased the base of the party.
