Catalan giants Barcelona are now just one point behind La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid following their 1-0 win over Valladolid on Monday night, April 5.

Thanks to a late strike by Ousmane Dembele who struck at the Camp Nou to move his side to within a point of the league leaders.

The Frenchman who is on the radar of Premier League club Manchester United volleyed home to help his side continue their impressive form winning all their last six games.

Valladolid’s Oscar Plano was sent off in the 79th minute which depleted the opposition squad after they had fought so hard to tame the hosts in their backyard.

They were also without a number of key players who were ruled out of the clash due to coronavirus outbreak or injury.

But they began the game on a front foot with Kenan Kodro crashing a header back off the bar and Roque Mesa also coming close from long-range.

Ronald Koeman’s men struggled in the better part of the first half with Pedri and Dembele missing the chances that came their respective ways.

Lucas Olaza had another fine chance for the visitors just before the hour mark when he raced down the left before cutting in and striking an effort into the side-netting.

A strong penalty shout for handball against Jordi Alba was denied as the home side rode their luck and stepped up their search for a winner.

It duly arrived as the game ticked over into injury time as Ronald Araujo flicked on a cross from Frenkie De Jong and Dembele pounced to grab the points for Barcelona as it ended 1-0.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that for him to sanction Erling Haaland’s transfer to Spanish club Barcelona, agent Mino Raiola has demanded a staggering €20 million (£17 million) from the Catalan giants.

Amid speculation that the Borussia Dortmund striker could potentially move to the La Liga, reports had it that the player’s father and agent were at Barcelona last week.

The 20-year-old is now the most sought-after striker across the European continent following his 49 goals and several assists since arriving from RB Salzburg.
