Man United are on the verge of releasing the number goalkeeper David de Gea in a bid to make Dean Henderson first choice, The Mirror.

The Spanish shot-stopper who currently earns a massive £350,000-per-week could be let go at the end of the season as United look to free up space in their books.

The 30-year-old has two-year left on his current deal at Old Trafford and the former Atletico Madrid will have to accept a pay cut to remain at the Manchester club.

De Gea's form has come under significant scrutiny over the past few seasons and with the current form of Henderson, the Englishman is ready to become the number one.

The 24-year-old signed a six-year new deal with United worth £120,000-a-week after returning from a successful loan spell with Sheffield United last season.

After the potential departure of De Gea in the summer, Sergio Romero who is already in the final months of his deal at Old Trafford will also leave.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Paul Pogba could finally leave Manchester United at the end of the season, according to reports in Italy, cited on Mirror.

The France international's contract at Old Trafford is set to expire in the summer of 2022 and it has been suggested that United should sell rather than keep him till next season.

According to Italian news publication Tuttosport, Pogba's romance at the Theatre of Dreams will be favourable to both club and player.

Legit.ng also reported that Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay recently gave a hilarious account of how he nearly missed out on getting Lionel Messi’s shirt back in 2019.

Messi, arguably the best player among all generations, last faced off against Manchester United in the Champions League and there was a hilarious sub plot in that tie.

Manchester United set up a quarter final clash against Barcelona two years ago when they famously came from behind in the previous round to knock out a star-studded PSG side on away goals.
