Former Super Eagles star Patrick Pascal who was rewarded with a three-bedroom apartment in Lagos has thanked the governor of the state Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Led by the president of the Nigerian Football Federation Amaju Pinnick, the Super Eagles players and coaching crew had dinner with Lagos state Governor on Thursday night, March 25 before their trip to Benin.

Pascal who is the current Super Eagles team coordinator was spotted during the night out and was rewarded with the prestigious gift.

The 46-year-old was among the squad that won gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics football event.

While speaking with the Super Eagles, Governor Babajide explained that Pascal will get a new three-bedroom apartment in Lagos.

And in a chat, Pascal stated that receiving the prize after more than two decades is surprising.

Pascal who featured for clubs in Turkey, China, Belgium and Nigeria further thanked the Lagos state community for the honour. He told Legit.ng:

"The head of state then, Sani Abacha, gave us N1million each as well as the prestigious MON award; and then the then Lagos state government promised to give us land.
"I thank the governor of Lagos; I thank the people of Lagos. 20-something years of receiving what I did not expect."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that former Nigerian international Daniel Amokachi has thrown his weight of support for the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) saying Nigeria would have won AFCON 2000 if the technology was in place at that time.

Recall that controversy ensued during the penalty shootout of the final match at the national stadium in Surulere, Lagos Nigeria after Victor Ikpeba’s penalty was ruled out.

Replays from several angles showed that the ball which bounced off the crossbar had crossed the line, but centre referee Morad Daami failed to award the goal as Cameroon won the tournament 4-3 via spot kicks after the match ended 2-2.
