President Buhari Condemns ‘Cowardly Terrorist Attack’ on Soludo, Ebonyi Communities

- Days after Charles Soludo, a former CBN governor, was attacked by armed men, President Buhari has sympathised with him

- The president also condemned the killings of innocent citizens in Íshíelu LGA of Ebonyi state

- Stressing that the attackers should not be spared, Buhari ordered security agencies to fish them out

President Muhammadu Buhari has strongly condemned the attack on Charles Soludo, former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Describing it as a cowardly terrorist attack, he said his administration will not give up the fight against terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.

This was contained in a statement released by Garba Shehu, presidential spokesperson and shared on his social media pages.

Recall that the former CBN governor was attacked by unknown gunmen who killed three policemen guarding him.

Legit.ng had reported that the incident took place on Wednesday, March 31, in Soludo's community, Isuofia, in Aguata local government area of Anambra state during a meeting with the youths of the community.

In his reaction to the development, Buhari said his prayers are with the ex-CBN governor and the families of the security operatives who lost their lives.

Buhari condemns Monday night attacks in three Ebonyi communities

The president also spoke also against the killings of at least 15 persons in Ishielu LGA of Ebonyi state by gunmen.

Buhari commiserated with families and friends who lost loved ones, and to every member of the communities in Ebonyi state traumatised by the attacks.

He called on law enforcement agencies to fish out attackers and make them face justice.

Charles Oyaebugha Mutu commented:

"After how many days? He was quick to react on the attempted coup in Niger Republic but waited this long to condemn what happened to his citizens."

Mazi Nworie O. Theola wrote:

"This happened on Monday, according to you but it took our caring president five good days to issue just a statement. Nigeria has never in the past been as bad as this. This is the kind of place where the military suppose be ordered to deploy their armory in search of the killer herdsmen (but will never be done) and not in Orlu."

Obed Etobe added:

Gunmen attack Ebonyi community

Suspected herdsmen had on Monday, March 29, invaded Obeagu community in the Ishielu local government area of Ebonyi state. No fewer than 16 people were sent to an early grave.

Legit.ng reported that about 10 motorcycles and a vehicle, whose owners were killed in the community, were set ablaze.

The report stated that one of the residents who escaped the onslaught, Ngozi Odoabuchi, described the incident as horrible.
