Gallant Nigerian Troops Repel Attack on Borno State Government's Convoy, Kill 7 Terrorists

The convoy of the Borno state government was allegedly attacked by Boko Haram terrorists on Friday, April 2, along Mongunob- Nganzai road.
According to Leadership, the attack on the convoy was successfully repelled by troops comprising of soldiers and police operatives.
The newspaper citing a security source said that the state officials were returning from Monguno when their convoy came under heavy attack by terrorists who rode on several gun trucks.

The fierce firefight led to the death of seven terrorists while one was arrested by a security team headed by Muhammed Ibrahim, the chief superintendent of police, and a team of soldiers.

During the encounter, three soldiers were injured in the gun battle, however, they were rushed to a hospital, PR Nigeria reports
Top government officials in the convoy included Borno State Attorney General, Kakashehu Lawal; commissioner of rehabilitation reconstruction and resettlement, Mustapha Gubio, and local government and chieftaincy affairs, Alhaji Mai-Mele.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno directed his fury to the Nigerian Army (NA) over the attack on his convoy by insurgents at Baga town.
Zulum, confronting the commanding officer in Mile 4, stated that despite claims of victory over Boko Haram, the terrorists still had the upper hand to unleash the attack.
The furious governor mentioned that even with the presence of 1,181 soldiers in Kukawa local government area, terrorists still thrive.

In another report, Governor Samuel Ortom reacted to comments by some Nigerians that he faked the reported attack on himself and his convoy on Saturday, March 20.
Speaking with State House correspondents after his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, the Benue governor said he has nothing to gain by faking the entire ordeal.
Ortom went on to state that he does not pray for his worst enemies to go through what he experienced that fateful day.
