“The commissioner of police, Amiengheme Andrew, is deeply saddened by the unprovoked attack on security personnel who were out maintaining the peace yesterday, 30th March, 2021 which led to the demise of CSP Ben Ajide who was the commander of the Command’s Quick Intervention Unit and two others, while four others are missing."

Sahara Reporters claimed that the thugs also killed a military officer and injured a few others.

The police commissioner has sympathised with the family of the slain officers. He assured that those behind the attack would not go unpunished.

The senators, chaired by Ike Ekweremadu, a former deputy president of the red chamber, in a statement on Wednesday, March 31, called on Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu to do everything possible in tracking and arresting perpetrators of the crimes.

The caucus kicked against what it referred to as massacre in its entirety, insisting that these criminals must never go unpunished like others in the past.

Part of the statement read:

“This act is most unfeeling and gruesome, and we condemn it in totality. But more importantly, this must not go unpunished like others before it."
