The Super Eagles finished their AFCON 2022 campaign unbeaten as they dispatched Lesotho by 3-0 in the final group game

Gernot Rohr's team have been better organized in their last two matches against the Republic of Benin and the Crocodiles of Lesotho.

The German tactician made four changes to the side that defeated the Squirrels of Benin and it did not seem to have any negative effect on their performance.

Here are the five things we learnt during Super Eagles win over the Crocodiles

1. A more organized side

The Super Eagles were organized in all departments of the game and it was hard to pick players who made mistakes.

The transition from defence to attack showed the attacking intent of the team which forced their opponents to defend in most parts of the game.

The boys played for each other and had everyone covering their lapses when possession is lost.

2. Team work and team spirit

Rohr's men showed no form of individuality or played selfishly. The way the three goals were scored was evident that everyone was a team player.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Samuel Chukuweze, Alex Iwobi made several telling passes to Victor Osimhen and the assist to Ogehenkaro Etebo's goal the Napoli striker who was in a better position to score also returned the favour.

Players on the bench celebrating with those on the pitch is also a clear sign that there was unity in the team.

3. Selection headache for Rohr

As it stands, only a few players are assured of wearing the green and white jersey every time the group gather to play an international game.

Every position has two to three players jostling for a starting shirt which shows that the team will not miss any player not on duty.

The defence, wing-backs, midfield and attack are loaded and players who did not make the trip for qualifiers would face stiffer competition.

4. Using Onuachu as the joker may not last long

Despite scoring in two consecutive matches as a substitute, Paul Onuachu will not be satisfied starting every game from the bench.

On the other hand, the Genk striker might also not be able to displace the more flexible Osimhen and Iheanacho but if he continues to perform excellently as a supersub, Rohr will have to make difficult decision.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Tyronne Ebuehi has stated that being left out Super Eagles squad against the Benin Republic was the decision of Gernot Rohr and he respects it, Complete Sports.

Ola Aina was the preferred option in the right-back position as the Nigerian side narrowly defeated the Squirrels by a 1-0.

The three-time African champions booked their place in the AFCON 2022 tournament slated for Cameroon after breaking Benin's eight-year unbeaten home record at the Stade de l'Amitie at Port Novo.
