Army Recruitment: Bola Tinubu Clarifies his Comment on 50 Million Youths

Former Lagos state governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that he made an error while calling for more youths to be drafted into the Nigerian Army as a way to tackle Nigeria's security challenges.

In a statement sent to journalists by his spokesman, Tunde Rahaman, and seen by Legit.ng, Tinubu said his intended recommendation was to have fifty thousand (50,000) youths recruited into various national security agencies and not 50 million as he said.

The comments by Tinubu had set social media on fire with many saying even the world powers don't have up to 50 million personnel in their army.

Senator Shehu Sani also commented on the issue wondering why Tinubu should be calling for the recruitment of 50 million soldiers, stressing that the federal government is grappling to pay salaries of 150,000 soldiers in its employ.
