EFCC arrests 24-year-old female internet fraud suspect Queen Jonathan

- The EFCC has nabbed Queen Jonathan, a suspected internet fraudster

The operatives of the Benin zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested one Queen Jonathan for suspected internet fraud in Oghara, Delta state.

Legit.ng reports that the anti-graft agency in a tweet on Tuesday, March 30, said that the 24-year-old Jonathan is alleged to have been involved in a Bitcoin scam.

The EFCC said that she presented herself as one Sophia Rodriguez, an expert in Bitcoin, on Instagram, to defraud unsuspecting victims.

The commission noted that the suspect has made a useful statement, adding that she would be arraigned in court as soon as the investigation is completed.

The agency stressed that the alleged scammer was arrested on Friday, March 26, adding that the items recovered from her included an Infinix Hot 8 mobile phone.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the chairman of the EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, said he would resign from office if he’s asked to do anything against the law.

It was reported that in a statement posted on Facebook on Saturday, March 27, the anti-graft agency said Bawa stated this on Friday, March 27, when he featured on One-on-One, a programme on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

The EFCC boss said Nigerians need to stop “worshipping people that have money”, and start questioning the sources of their wealth.

He said he would not do anything contrary to his conscience, and that the EFCC under his watch will abide by the law.

In a related report, a fake army officer identified as Henry Mfon Asuquo has been sentenced to eight years in prison by the Federal High Court sitting in Uyo for fraud.

Asuquo was prosecuted by the Uyo zonal office of the EFCC.

The spokesperson of the agency, Wilson Uwujaren, disclosed in a statement that the convict was arrested on January 3, 2019, at Ayara street, Nungu Uko in the Ibesikpo local government area of the state following a petition by one Itoro Tom.
