The tribunal had recently dismissed a petition by the Action Alliance (AA) and its candidate, Ukonga Onaivi, against Obaseki, PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In another report, Obaseki on Saturday, March 20, called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to zone its 2023 presidential ticket to the south-south.

The Edo governor made this call in Benin, the state capital, at a reception ceremony to honour Chief Dan Orbih, PDP's new national chairman for the region.

Obaseki said it will amount to equity and fairness if the south-south is allowed to produce Nigeria's next president.

In a related development, the Edo state chapter of the PDP had advised the leadership of the party to zone its presidential ticket to the south-south zone.

The state chairman of the party, Tony Aziegbemi, gave the advice on Monday, March 15, during an address to journalists in Benin city.

The party chieftain said the south-south zone was short-changed when President Goodluck Jonathan was denied a second term.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the houses of a former deputy governor of Edo, Pius Odubu and two APC chieftains, Mike Etemuagbon and Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, have been demolished.
