For those advocating for Nigeria's break-up - Have a rethink. This is the message of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

The VP disclosed this while delivering his speech virtually at the 12th Bola Tinubu colloquium held in commemoration of Tinubu’s 69th birthday in Kano.

He said if Nigeria does break, they may need visas to travel to places like Kano.

Speaking on the event, he said the original idea was for the event to hold virtually, adding that everything changed after Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state offered to host a physical event.

This was billed to run alongside the virtual one on Zoom.

He said:

“For the purveyors of breaking up into small components, into small countries, perhaps they should be reminded that we would not have been able to accept Governor Ganduje’s offer to come to Kano at a short notice since we would all have needed visas to come to Kano."

Going further, he added Kano was is the home of radical and progressive ideals.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the governor of Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi, explained that people calling for secession from Nigeria are doing so out of frustration.

Fayemi told Arise Television on Tuesday, March 23, that such agitation is expected when there are stress and laxity in society.

He said:

“Frankly, when you have stress and laxity in society, you’re bound to find a whole range of responses. Some rational, some irrational, some that speak to the fears of the people, some opportunistic and harebrained. There’s no question that some of the reactions we’ve seen will fall into all of those categories.”

In another report, the governor of Ondo state, Rotimi Akeredolu, has finally revealed those advocating for a sovereign Yoruba state called Oduduwa Republic amid calls for the secession of southwest states from Nigeria.

Akeredolu stated that politicians who lost out on power are the people promoting the Oduduwa nation.

The southwest governor went on to issue a stern warning to those behind the Oduduwa Republic agenda.

Akeredolu said the Ondo people have elected to stay in the federal republic of Nigeria as constituted at present.

He said no part of the entire state, known and delineated as Ondo state, would permit any gathering or agitation which may suggest, however remotely, that the people are in support of what he termed ‘unthinking rabble-rousing.
