Bad weather disrupts Tinubu’s 69th birthday, forces Gbajabiamila, Aregbesola, others to make U-turn

- Many dignitaries will sadly not be able to attend Bola Tinubu's birthday celebration physically in Kano state

- Femi Gbajabiamila, Lai Mohammed, and several other VIPs were expected to be at the event until bad weather disrupted their plans

A report by The Punch indicates that many dignitaries billed to attend the 69th birthday and 12th colloquium of All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader Bola Tinubu will not be able to make it.

According to the report, VIPs who were scheduled to travel to Kano state by air on Monday, March 29, were forced to make a U-turn due to bad weather.

The speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola were among the affected dignitaries.

As a result of the VIPs absence, the event which was slated for 12 pm was moved to 12.30 pm as the moderator informed attendees on Zoom.

It was gathered that no fewer than 60 members of the House of Representatives led by the majority leader, Ado Doguwa, who are already within Kano state, are expected to attend the colloquium.

Daily Nigerian also reports that governors of Lagos, Osun, Ogun, Ekiti were already at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja before the weather became unfriendly.

Senators Kashim Shettima, Yayi Adeola, Tokunbo Abiru, and Opeyemi Bamidele were also among dignitaries who could not make it to Kano by air. The guests are now joining the Colloquium virtually from the airport.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that despite his efforts in organising the event, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will only be able to attend the 12th BAT Colloquium virtually from the Presidential Villa.

According to Laolu Akande, senior special assistant, media and publicity to the VP, this change of plans was caused by bad weather. Akande made this known on his Twitter handle on Monday, March 29.

In a related development, President Muhammadu Buhari felicitated with the former governor of Lagos state on the occasion of his 69th birthday.

Buhari conveyed his heartfelt wishes to his political ally in a message signed by presidential spokesman Garba Shehu on Sunday, March 28.

Buhari affirmed that the former governor has inspired many leaders and continues to nurture talents for the benefit of the country.
