Tyronne Ebuehi has stated that being left out Super Eagles squad against the Benin Republic was the decision of Gernot Rohr and he respects it, Complete Sports.

Ola Aina was the preferred option in the right-back position as the Nigerian side narrowly defeated the Squirrels by a 1-0.

“I am always confident in myself. I think everybody wants to play but at the end of the day the coach makes a decision and we as players have to respect it.
“But if I play I will be happy, if I have to sit on the bench I will equally be happy because like I said it’s already an honor to be here with the team.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Paul Onuachu became a hero for Nigeria after scoring a late winner against Benin to hand Super Eagles a 1-0 win over Benin in Port Novo at the Stade de l'Amitie Stadium.

The three-time African champions had already booked a place in the AFCON 2022 tournament following the scoreless draw between Lesotho and Sierra Leone.

Gernot Rohr's men had to dig deep into the final three minutes added to the 90 before coming up with a goal.
