Paul Onuachu scored his first competitive goal for Nigeria in their Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier victory over Benin Republic in Porto Novo over the weekend.

The Genk forward made a bold move by jumping over the Squirrels' defenders to head a rebound into the back of the net to give the Super Eagles maximum points away from home.

His goal ensured the three-time AFCON kings bounced back to winning ways after back-to-back draws against Sierra Leone last November.

Nigeria will host Lesotho at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Tuesday, March 30, and the forward revealed while speaking to Punch:

“I’m happy to have scored the match-winner for the team in Cotonou. I’ve worked very hard to get here. It’s like a long road but I’m very happy to be here and to get the opportunity and the goal.
“I want to do more like I have been doing with my club this season. It has always been my dream to score for Nigeria in games and I want to do that regularly when I get an invitation to represent my fatherland."
